See the About Brunton Transits page for more information on Brunton transits in general. This compass was purchased in 2003 from Kooters Geology Supply; If you're in the market for supplies for geology, prospecting, or just looking for interesting rocks, Kooters is the place to get it. Besides having the best prices I've seen, they have really excellent customer service! I purchased this compass for light survey and cartography work. It replaced a Brunton 8099P Eclipse Pro that I had a problem with. I was immediately impressed with the compass. It is light (about 6 ounces), and tough (the case is a composite resin) just like it's first cousin, the military M2 compass. I Selected the ComPro model mostly because it was less expensive than the aluminum bodied models offered by Brunton Specifications:
These compasses are very valuable, and collectable. Since they retain their function for many years, and are very durable, you will occasionally see them sell on ebay. Here's one that got away :-( |
