This compass was purchased in 2003 from a local sporting goods store. I purchased this compass to carry with me while I was out in the backcountry, specificially for navigation with maps.
This compass is a good example of a baseplate compass. The clear plate allows the user to easily align the compass with the map. The clear capsule also allows easy alignment. This compass uses color coded markings on the capsule base to prevent "reverse arrow" errors.
This compass is *very* light, only 1.2 ounces.
