The Silva Landmark is essentially the modern version of the venerable "Huntsman" model. It is lightweight (0.9 oz) and can be used as either a mirrored sighting compass or it can be pinned to the clothing for hands-free use. It features a heavy-duty locking pin for attaching the compass to clothing while on the trail. To use hands-free, the cover is opened 270 degrees from the closed position. This exposes the hinge pin, which doubles as a safety-pin. The Landmark compass contains a lifetime magnetized Swedish steel needle, a friction-free sapphire bearing, permanently clear anti-static liquid, and luminous points for use in the dark. The Landmark compass has a 1:20-inch scale as well as a millimeter scale for mapping. .
