CompassCollector's Geocaching RigOk, here's how I do it. Other people have different preferences, this is just what works for me. I keep a fanny pack ready for caching, and I bring it with me on all caches. Sometimes (often) I leave it in the car after reviewing the cache information on my Palm Vx with CacheMate. However, if I'm going to a cache that's in the field (in a park, or undeveloped area) I strap it on. Here's what it looks like: From left to right: A PalmVx in a Titanium RhinoSkin case and belt holster; a Cammenga MilSpec Tritium compass; the "Swag Bag" holding swag, flashlight, spare batteries, gloves and writing instrument; A pair of Tasco Binoculars; and the Magellan SporTrak Map GPS receiver. If the cache is close to the parking lot, I'll grab the GPSr, retrieve the cache, and do the log and trade in the car before replacing the cache. If there's a hike, I'll strap the rig on, and do it all in the field. |
