On the consitutional separation of Church and State July 1, 1999 Hello friends. One of the core tenets of America has been the constitutional separation of church and state. However, for many years, this principle has been much maligned, because it has been misunderstood, and misapplied. Recently, there have been several attempts made to undermine this principle, or to simply deny its existance as understood by the Supreme Court. These pages are devoted to explaining the principle of separation, and to illustrating how it has protected religious liberty through our history, and how it continues to do so today.
